| Okay ... this is probably laziness ... but would someone please brief me on how to use ALT-F2 to update the BIOS on my 9CJS? How do I do it? |

| a .rar tip exerpted from my last email to Chaintech. I used the www.rarlab.com utility to open the .rar they sent me. It opened them to .exe's. =============== >>> I created a bootable floppy and dragged af829e.exe and 9cjs511.bin to it. >>> (both had been extracted using your recommended www.rarlab.com). >>> >>> But when I rebooted and inserted at the prompt >>> A:>af829e.exe 9cjs511.bin I got, "Cannot be run in DOS mode." >>> So, I tried Alt + F2 and voila, it automatically found the 511 version on the floppy. >>> My BIOS now reads 6.00PG 05/11/2004 Note: Since posting this there is a newer version (7.0 10/18/04) of BIOS. | Chaintech is going to replace my 9CJS. Whew, it sure feels good. The new power supply must have finished it off. Both Ethernet ports and the onboard sound are dead. As a workaround our RoadRunner guy gave me a Ethernet to USB adapter. It wokrs fine. I'd didn't get clear whether or not is is possible to save the contents of my RAID 0 drives. I get that it's likely I will lose the data when I install the new MOBO and that I most likely will have to reinstall XP Pro, however, I sure would like to try to save the time and effort of reinstalling everything. If possible I like to be able to simply plug them in. Has anyone ever done this? Thanks, Kerry |

| I think you will need to start from scratch with the RAID 0, remove all data from the RAID 0 to your USB drive. weird that your board is deterioration like that.

| Yah, but I feel validated that all those problems had something to do with the board. They sure did their best to try and trouble shoot it without having me return it. Got it about the RAID-0 :=( Thanks, Kerry |

| Just to be sure with my new 9cjs MOBO. I set up a RAID-0 and then installed XP Pro. So far all's well. I have a ticket to Chaintech as to why Alt-F2 wouldn't allow me to upgrade the BIOS. While I'm waiting for their reply I thought I'd install "Intel(R) Chipset v6.0.1.1002 for XP". I downloaded it from Chaintech. I'm assuming it's the same as "Intel IDE Bus Mastering Drivers" on Chaintech's original CD. I'm not using their CD because everything on it is outdated. The two different names confuse me. All I have to do is click "Setup" in the infv6.0.1.1002 folder, yes? Am I correct that if it installs correctly it will be listed in Start, All Programs? Thanks, Kerry |

| I would go to www.intel.com and get the latest Intel chipset drivers there for the I875 Canterwood chipset

| Will get the most recent from Intel. What was the one that used to be listed in Start> Program Files? Thanks, Kerry |
