at cable modem speeds I doubt you notice any difference between the realtek and the CSA gigabit

In terms of connection speeds, nope. But it appears the pathway for the CSA gigabit LAN will have a lower impact on my CPU. It does not use the PCI bus for data.

Nope, I moved along to a 2.8 C now

about the timing: you won't find the 5:4, 1:1 or 4:5 settings anywhere in the bios. They're translated as the 266, 333 or 400 setting for a strange reason....

I was talking about CPU usage

it took me more then a week to find out why my zenith would not overclock (I was thinking all the time "....I'm using ddr400, so this setting can't be wrong...")

That sounds really confusing. I can tell I'll be back to ask for help once I start messing with memory timings.

Well, my new mainboard arrived, and all is well. It came preloaded with the latest BIOS, version 6.0, so I had the AGP/PCI lock for overclocking.

I had to remove the snazzy little grill on the northbridge fan to install my video card with the Arctic Cooling unit, but that was no real problem.

I have my Kingston DDR 466 memory running at 1:1 with a moderate overclock to 216 mHz (876 mhz FSB). I am sure I could get it higher with dividers ... but why bother when the CPU is running stable at 3.5 gHz already?

The sound on this board is great! To me, it sounds as good as my Audigy 2.

And it's nice having nothing except my video card installed in a board slot. It leaves room for the spaghetti explosion of cables caused by the CBOX 3.

The CBOX 3 is my only cause for complaint. The cables on it are almost too short to connect, because I am running a full tower case. The sound cable, in particular, is a real stretch, going all the way to the opposite corner of the case.

Got a 3Dmark03 rating of 6209 last night, and a 3Dmark2001 rating of 19743 - both substantially higher than my PT880 could achieve.

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions ... I am glad I found this forum!

Okay ... first problem with the new board. The microphone line is noisy as heck. Anyone know how to fix it?

Right now I have a choice between the 20 db boost (with high grinding noise) or just upping all my volume settings (with a lovely resonating hum) to speak on Ventrilo.

I have tried both the front and rear mic connections, with very similar results.
