Zalman

Zalman

Zalman didn't bring many new products this year. But we'll give you a small highlight of what we've seen at their booth. It starts with watercooling.
All of these blocks are already available and should cover almost every possible VGA card/processor or chipset.

What Zalman also did was take the Z-machine case and the reserator XT watercooling unit. And make one case of them. The radiator is installed in the side panel, the pump in installed next to the hard disk rack on the bottom of the case.

The control and monitoring part in installed in the front of the case.

Madshrimps (c)

The existing power supplies, with different cable sleeving.

Madshrimps (c)

The HTC casings.

A new case design. (Keep in mind that this is just the prototype). Featuring hot swap SATA bays.

It's a black case, not with a blue accent as shown on the previous picture.

The power supply is installed in the bottom of the case.

The install the PSU easy there are 2 rails provided with small wheels, so that you can just slide in the PSU.

Here we see the new VGA cooler. A small plate installed on the core and 3 heatpipes transfer the heat to a larger surface. This will be positioned near the rear exhaust fan. But as every case is different the radiator should be movable. How this would be solved couldn't be answered yet.
The picture shows a prototype.

Some more finished cooler is de Zalman VF2000. This is a rather big VGA cooler, or a rather small cpu cooler. This unit can be both.

What's up with all the companies making their own passive cooler instead of just putting an S1 on the G92 cards?

in-house dev+production most likely cheaper than licensing their tech

I doubt it, the pricing of the S1 cooled GT of ECS @ Newegg BEFORE Newegg jacked up the price (was below 200 when it started).
