Athlon 64 motherboards with Nvidia Nforce3 (Chrush K8) chipset:So what's special about the Nvidia NF3?- Supports Athlon 64, 800mhz FSB
- One chip: no more seperating into north & southbridge
- Rich of features: 8x USB2.0, S-ATA, Raid, Gigabit LAN, PCI 2.3...
- K8G: onboard MX440
Reality check: while the 64bit AMD processor might be ready to be launched, 64bit software is not. Two thumbs up for AMD making the 64bit processor available for desktop workstations, but the hard fact is it will propably not be a good buy. Until Windows x86-64bit is released, or AMD manages to raise the frequency (1.8Ghz is too low to compete with a 3Ghz P4, or overclocked Athlon XP) this isn't worth ditching your socket A motherboard.
Nvidia did an impresive job on the nforce2, so if you would buy an A64, the NF3 chipset would propably be a good choice.
