| new price of A64 S939 3500+ is ~€200 , selling it 2nd hand will not give you more than €150 (if you are lucky), add transport, install/reinstall, extra testing, lost time and hassle; and you'll be on the losing end by swithing CPU.

| My PC is in the living room so it's a bit of waste to spend much money on a good 5.1 set if I use my headphones most of the time. I still have a 4.1 set somewhere of Cambridge SoundWorks (Creative). I bought it 6 years ago together with a Diamond MX300, the best surround soundcard I ever had because it supported Aureal's A3D. And A3D was better (and still is) then Creative's EAX. Half Life was one of the games that supported A3D and that was an unbelievable experience. I heard where players were, I heard it much better, much more "real" then somebody with exact the same setup but with a SB Live! And that was a big advantage And I know a 6600GT isn't the best there is but it's good value for money. Maybe I'll buy an X800 GTO² and flash it to an X850XT PE. Or I can buy a good TFT (although my 19" CRT is still doing fine). Or maybe I'll just shut up because I'm going waaaay off-topic here. Back on-topic: This german guy has a CABGE 0536 VPAW http://www.forumdeluxx.de/forum/show...4&postcount=32 |

| We use processor totally for another purpose nowadays; or at some places for some people...... benchmarking. If bench marking earns you a title that makes you proud of your ability; accomplishment; knowledge in the contribution to education, defense, reduction of ozone, increase air quality, reduce waste, improve productivity etc etc, go for it. I feel bad using a Venice 3000+ running 24/7 @2.7Ghz returning 31-32 second SuperPI and find myself so damn shallow in computing technology that from what I know, a PII Celeron is more than adequate. The little and occasional use of Autodesk Inventor could easily be done with P4 2GHz which overclocked to 3.2GHz with ease and without any heat problem using 1st generation stock HSF. 1.2Ghz or 60% overclock with slight increase in voltage that's overclocking. But, I don't expect I can find such a processor on a quarterly basis, neither will I spend my life looking for one.
