| [ any good bios editors out there? =D [/b][/quote] For Gainward owners: use wfflash. May work with other cards as well. example: wfflash nm 5950e300.rom Had same prob w/gainward bios and winfast till i used wfflash not nvflash. (left out in article's directions i think) 1600 golden sample now a 1800u. Temps are 10c lower to w/ 5950e300.rom. Don't know if that's improvement w/ 5950 updated software or what. Haven't tried vivo though. |

First impression for me was when i used some tweaking programs for checking the hardware spec's of the FX-card used in DX9.0b +; ooooh they made a fault inside those programs, it must be an NV38. But now when i read this nice tweaking about the FX5900 cards, i discovered that this is been a marketing trick to earn lots of money with out selling a real NV38 chipset, real unbelieveble, like a worst nightmare..... So where is the real NV38 chipset??? otherwise if it wouldn't be there, i want my MONEY BACK !!! | |

| Well I just checked the 3Dmark03 orb I am still number 21 in the world. that is all processors and all speeds using a 5900fx. If you have a card with anything less than 2.2 ns ram you are never going to achieve what you are hoping for. I am still using the 845 chipset as soon as I get my canterwood built I will climb into the top 10, hope to see some of you there but,I have my doubts. |

| I'm using an XFX FX5900 256MB, and I can't make either nvflash or wfflash work. For those having trouble with the board ID, the latest version of nvflash (4.46) does not seem to have an override flag. Look for 4.42, which has an override flag for board ID (-2) or look for 4.41 which does not seem to check for it at all. 4.46 removed the board ID override and changed the flags for the other ID overrides from -u & -p to -2 & -1 This hasn't helped me, however. I tried wfflash first. I used 'wfflash nm a380u.rom' (and later 5950e400.rom). It tries to save the old BIOS to saveold.rom (I'd already done that, though), then it does some kind of verification that always fails with "Verifying error address 0002,data 7c'. It asks if I want to try again, but nothing makes it go through. nvflash seems to get further, but the end result is still failure. It gives me the warnings about mismatched IDs, then says that it's erasing the EEPROM, then says that it's writing the new BIOS file...then it dies with 'Mismatch in 256 byte page-write programming'. Oddly, the old BIOS is still intact on the card after this. I have been able to successfully write a copy of the existing BIOS back to the card with nvflash, but I cannot do it with wfflash (I get an error similar to the one above). This is with both 4.42 and 4.41 -- if anyone had success, what version of nvflash was used? |
