Ah ok, well thanks anyway. I was hoping it had a built-in sensor.

Well, I've tried this twice on my XFX 5900 to no avail. I've tried with the leadtek BIOS and with a eVGA 5900 ultra BIOS.

There's gotta be another XFX user out there that's figured this out! I wish XFX would release their BIOS rom's.

I think this is the good bios.

I keep getting vendor id mismatches, etc etc.. I used a BIOS editor to get those to match but now I've got to a board chipset version mismatch (gainwards is a 3800 where my XFX is a 3502) .. the x-bios editor doesnt give me any where easy to find where this is so I'm screwed, for now anyways..

any good bios editors out there? =D

I got a MSI GeForce FX 5600 256 MB, anyway to flash it to a better card? Maybe flash it to a 5600 Ultra at the least? I run Liquid cooling so not too worried about small heat problems unless it's just a massive heat gain...

jmke: I ask you becouse you know a lot about this flash method. I have an asus fx 5900 128 Mb tv-out only (v9950). So can i use the leadtek rom (a380u.rom) to flash my vga bios? It is not a problem that leadtek a380u has 256 mb ram and vivo??? This is my big problem and my question. If it is work then just follow this:

3. Boot to DOS

4. change to the register with BIOS files.

5. Write: WFFLASH.EXE NM A380U.rom

6. Your video cards bios will be updatet.

7. Restart your PC

8. You maybe need to re-install the Detonator/Forceware

Now, you habe a Leadtek Winfast A380 Ultra !

And probably everything going to be fine?
Please answer me! THX!!!

Hi Peace

I found this guide on the Futuremark discussionthread, I have not tried flashing my soon to arrive FX5900 so I can't help you at this time, but as mentioned before, make sure your card is in the list before attempting this mod!

I have flashed the Asus FX 5900 (non ultra) to FX 5950 Ultra (Gainward bios) and i have 100% with 2 of 2 cards! I have also succesfuly flashed the MSI FX5900 Ultra, non ultra, SP and FX version of the cards wich all of them were running 3dmark 03 for 9 hours now. I can confirm that you get a temp drop of about 8°C on all cards! This mod is simply fantastic!!!

Gigabyte FX works also (tested)
Asus FX 5900 works
MSI FX's work

I'm working at a Computer store so I have time to test this My brother changed his R9800 (non pro) to FX5950 Ultra today

It's strange that the 2.8ns ram work at such speeds, maybe that's because the Ultras have higher latency memory... But so far I had 100% success with all cards. Will check the XFX model when i get one...

p.s. I used this bios on all cards:
