Arighty.. Well the XFX no longer works correctly with a 5950 Bios.. Pretty much what happens is the bios loads correctly but when windows goes to load it, supposely there aren't enough resources to load it correctly so the display gets stuck at 640x480 at 8 bit colors, ack..

I think im just gonna load up a 5900 ultra bios just to make sure my card boots up at higher speeds all the time

just make sure you copied the gainward or leadtek ROM to the floppy also.. I also renamed those files to something more simplistic to make it easier to know which one is which.. even going as far as renaming the gainward 5950 bios to "gainward.rom" is okay! .. Just dont make the name longer then 8 characters.

For the XFX users..

Here's the process.. Get the NVFlash v4.41 from NVPlanet. (http://www.nvplanet.com/modules.php?...p=getit&lid=81)

Copy the NVFlash.exe file to a start up floppy.

Download the Gainward bios. (http://www.3dchips.co.kr/main/downlo...pds_bios&no=55 .. Page only works in Internet Explorer)

Rename the ROM image in the zip file to gainward.rom

Copy to Floppy

Boot your computer up using the floppy.

type in: NVFlash -r

This should take away the write protection on the video card. (You possibly might want to restart, I don't think I did, but if the below steps do not work, restart and try them again)

Now type in NVFlash -p -u gainward.rom

Make sure when it asks you to type in "YES" to type it in capital letters!

That should do the trick..

Unfortunately for myself I have noticed that I can get the rom flashed correctly but I am getting issues with Windows not having enough resources to run the card as a 5950. If anybody could help me out with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Xan3x, look at the original thread of this topic, it gives links to a few BIOS roms..

Lysnyt, There's a lot of people having that problem and there's no resolution as of yet. Check Futuremark's forums for a more indepth discussion. There's a guy looking to fix it by editing the bios images.
