hajj_3 13th January 2004 11:59

another thing, i think my agp may be running at 4x, even though my abit siluro 5900 is 8x and my motherboard is agp 8x (Abit NF7-S 2.0).

any ideas how i can check it and change it if it is, only getting 13,700 in 3dmark with a pretty good system, will post system specs another time.

hajj_3 13th January 2004 12:11

1 FINAL thing, what program can i use to check the temperature of my graphics card, cant see it in sisoft sandra 2004 pro, and it dosent show up on rivatuner. cant see it in bios, on my nf7-s using bios 17.

i have an abit siluro otes geforce fx 5900 128mb.

hope someone can answer my questions, i would be extremely grateful !

Can you save you BIOS of that "abit siluro otes geforce fx 5900 128mb". As that one I don't have yet for my Website.

Can you send me the BIOS of your GeForce FX?
Give the following Details in the Mail :
- Card Manufacturer
- GeForce FX Version (5900, 5700U,...)

How can you save you BIOS File :
Download Nvflash..make a bootable disk, put nvflash on it ,when you restart your computer with disk @ the command prompt type

nvflash -b xxxx.rom

It will save your bios to the disk.
Email it to me :-)

I have already around 40-50 different BIOS Files but there are more...

Send to : mavke@regio.be

Thanks

hajj_3 13th January 2004 12:37

ill reply here, so if anybody else want to know the same thing they can use this help.

i used nvflash 4.41 and the bios file that a guy gave me, the link is on page 4 i think.

use the command:

nvflash -f 5950.rom -u -p

i think its this, if it isnt it wont work, it wont damage your graphics card.

its the Abit siluro geforce fx 5900 OTES 128mb (http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=74480)

once flashed it says something like geforce fx 5950 ultra when you switch the computer on.

jmke 13th January 2004 12:49

@hajj_3: mavke is asking for your 5900 original bios :)

difference 4x <> 8x AGP = 0.0001% btw

hajj_3 13th January 2004 12:54

oh right, yeah, when i get back home in about an hour i will put the original bios and all the stuff for the 5950 bios on a floppy disk, then i will e-mail you, make sure you have some room for the attachment!

on page 4 is the guy's original.rom btw, i will e-mail you mine too, they are the same size, but may be slightly different!

are you the guy who made this or something ?

jmke 13th January 2004 13:04

nope, just spreading the word:)

hajj_3 13th January 2004 14:18

the detanator destroyer didnt work, it couldnt delete ntdll.dll, it said it had an access violation, still wont install the drivers !:(

hajj_3 13th January 2004 14:19

makve, e-mail SENT !!!

if anyone else wants the ABIT SILURO 5900 OTES bios e-mail me, it has instructions too !

Mavke 13th January 2004 15:11

Instructions: are on the first page of this thread

BIOS: try one of the leadtek or gainward BIOS files first.

greetz and good luck ;)

edit: here is an msi bios

aznxboix629 14th January 2004 04:35

Ok,

Earlier some guy posted some custom instructions on how to flash a XFX FX5900. I used the Gainward BIOS and it worked great!!!! My XFX GeForce FX5900 is now a FX5950 Ultra.

FOR THOSE WITH THE "I AM STUCK AT ONE RESOLUTION' PROBLEM, TRY TO REDOWNLOAD AND REINSTALL THE LATEST FORCEWARE DRIVERS. AT FIRST I WAS STUCK AT 640X480 AND COULDN'T CHANGE IT BUT AFTER I REINSTALLED THE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS, EVERYTHING WENT FINE.

MY RESULTS:

Clock Speeds
Stock FX5900: 400/850
Flashed @FX5950U: 475/900

3DMark03 Results (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1891660)
Stock FX5900: 5184
Flashed @FX5950U: 5687

Temperatures
Stock FX5900: 54C GPU / 37C Ambient
Flashed @FX5950U: 44C GPU / 36 Ambient

Overall, 10% increase in performance and about 20% decrease in temperature (don't ask me how, it just happened :) ) Overall, very sweet and it works but use at your own risk.

revo2001 14th January 2004 05:58

That was me, Im gonna give it a shot again then.. try uninstalling the drivers and everything.. hopefully it'll work.. ill let ya know

revo2001 14th January 2004 06:22

Not working still. I completely took the old card out of my system, uninstalled all of the drivers, and then reinstalled.. no such luck.

revo2001 14th January 2004 06:58

aznxboix629, were you getting any kind of error in the device manager when you were stuck at a low resolution?.. I'm getting an error 12.. pissing me off.

Gamer 14th January 2004 07:36

my guess is that your fan is spinning all the time on high rpm now, and that is giving you lower temps.
check ik out.

dzegr 14th January 2004 08:13

I flashed the gainward bios now, installed drivers and then i changed the resolution :). Works like a charm now :).

Just don't try to change the resolution if no drivers are installed.

NiTrO 14th January 2004 15:37

tv out option comes
