Default dothan gaming experience...

... or why Intel should ditch it's P4 line in favor of the P-M line

article

Now imagine: dual channel, agp 8x, and more power oriŽnted mainbords rather then silent, low power oriŽnted

*edit* also notice the price difference between the compared systems

By the looks of it, the DFI isn't all that much better...

I think Charlie hits the nail on it's head (dutch expression translated, I don't now an expression in english that would come down to the same thing )

I think they do.... but Intel came and said "hey, don't steal the thunder from our P4 line, we'll let you put 855 on a micro-atx board for silent desktops, but don't make our 855 a P4 killer!

the question is : can these things scale up beyond 2.5 ghz... coz if they can't they'll just be on par with an overclocked fx

...it's no jump forward. some years ago we used to have jumps forward that mattered, remember.
now we're strolling the streets of cpuspeed about as fast as I have to go when I'm shopping with my gf through a bookstore.

unnervingly slow that is.
painstakingly slow.

My question is, how does the Celeron M 350 perform? It's based on the Dothan core, but is really affordable (125e).

But who's gonna buy a 125euro celeron when their motherboard costs twice as much?

the dothan apparently is just as bandwith hungry (and dependant) as the P4. the benefits of DC alone would be quite an improvement.
afaik the successor of the centrino combo will have support for the 533 fsb dothans and offer DC support ... for DDR2 :grum:

Also, in dispite of what you may expect from dfi, the boards aren't' designed with overclocking in mind.

It's not the same but it shows the performance difference at stock... should give you a bit of an idea...
