the question is : can these things scale up beyond 2.5 ghz... coz if they can't they'll just be on par with an overclocked fx

My question is, how does the Celeron M 350 perform? It's based on the Dothan core, but is really affordable (125e).

But who's gonna buy a 125euro celeron when their motherboard costs twice as much?

the dothan apparently is just as bandwith hungry (and dependant) as the P4. the benefits of DC alone would be quite an improvement.
afaik the successor of the centrino combo will have support for the 533 fsb dothans and offer DC support

It's not the same but it shows the performance difference at stock... should give you a bit of an idea...
