Computex 2013 Madshrimps Style

Tradeshow & OC events by leeghoofd @ 2013-06-14

Even though CeBIT still is one of the biggest tradeshows in Europe, most big vendors seem to slowly but steadily be less and less present at the Hannover hallen. Most of the big names, either have rented hotel suites outside the CeBIT fair or are solely represented at the Planet Resellers booth. Secondly most new hardware launches are done at CES in Las Vegas or at the center of the computing world, Taipei City in Taiwan. This year we opted to go to the Computex Tradeshow to visit an old friend and gather with some of world's most famous overclockers. Time to bag up and head inbound Taiwan !

ASRock and AVEXIR

Together with Overclocking legend Nick Shih ASRock has been able to win the hearts of many enthousisasts. The Z77 OC Formula board was a great performer and we expect nothing less of the Z87 successors. The Z87M Formula in fact holds the current WR for memory clock at a  blistering speed of 2145.2MHz

On display was also the conformal coating from ASRock. Nick told us the extra cost to treat the mainboards with the coating was about 10 dollars per piece. Always nice to have this feature onboard when going subzero.

Overclocking guests at the ASRock booth were John Lam from HKEPC and Allen aka Splave from the USA. We found them binning PSC ICs at 2400C7 at 1.65VDimm. This was all possible via the Avexir crew, which allowed the top guys to select and test their own ICs. A special handpicked DIMM set would be made wrapped in a special custom heatspreader.

Having specific theme matching Heatspreaders for each motherboard brand is a real good marketing strategy.
