Had to stop too (last year, folded for somebody else of our team).

Salvage some older components and build a low power machine.

My PIII uses less power than a 100w light bulb that burns 5 hours/day does.

yes, but it takes ages on a PIII.
Maybe if you drop the amount of cpu power it uses ?
