I like Lian Li; I find Chenbro is solid and quiet at a lower price. For alum case, Lian Li is second to none.

I got some money to spend, before the end of this summer I'm planning on getting 2 new pc's, but there is so many hardware available that it's rather hard to conclude what will be the best choice.
One benchmarking machine, and one gaming/reviewing machine...

The benchmarking machine is going to be phase change cooled, I wonder what CPU would be best choice around. Q6600 is really low priced for being a Quad Core processor, although the older benchmarks are single threaded so there is no need for Quad Core there. For older benchmarks, my E6600 will probable do just fine, high FSB's is common those days with the P35 chipsets. Now I'm kinda lazy, I don't want to swap CPU's every time I want to switch from benchmark, maybe I should like into a board which let's me control the amount of cores via BIOS options. That way I could boost the clocking of the Q6600 because there is less power being used and the Prom would have more headroom to keep the CPU at subzero temperature.
Wait, 45nm CPU are coming this year, what if I could get an early engeneering sample? Now... that would rock don't you think

Back to reality, X38 is Intel's newest high-end board, though launch date is somewhere in mid-august and we can't predict how good it is, I guess I'll just have to wait. Rumors say that it is going to be the best performing board around, off corse we shouldn't believe those but it might be wurth the wait, 3 weeks aint that long either and I've plenty of other taks to do until then. For now, Lanparty P35 might be the best choice, agree?

For the reviewing/game machine I'll get anything I didn't get in the benchmarking machine. P35 features CrossFire only, this means I'll get 680i for the review rig. Some told that X38 might have SLI support, other say that it's only ment for Quadro VGA cards (the professional line from NVIDIA), hmmmm

Performance is clearly what I'm looking for, any thoughts here?

The lanparty P35 is a good board, but the early results are just to hype the board. I've seen a lot of good Asus p35 also (vanilla is as good as every other board), so it up to you to chose what you need.

Maybe buy a pre-tested mobo for your benchmark rig?

Lanparty would be preferable as it will likely come with tons of options, more advanced performance tweaking.

AMD, WD and Micron are all loosing money so far this year. Asustek overstocks on P965; Vista is not selling at all; Intel is stilling cutting price willing to take lower margin; TSM is talking a lot yet stock price is not doing much.

Only NVDA is going strong both in financial front and showing signs of being alive. Going back to school sales will determine how much loss or gain for the entire industry. It may take an earthquake or major natural disaster to bring RAM price back up like in the early 90's.

PC enthusisasts are all but a few demanding for more video card, CPU FSB, DDR3 performance. Repeated in rapid price drop is never a good sign for any business nor for the industry.

2007 will be a good year for consumers hunting for bargain high performance PC and notebook. Should this trend continue into 2008, many companies will not survive. It makes me wonder if you should stay with the possible survivor; Intel, Nvda. No matter what happens, Dell, HP, Lenovo will carry on the usual business.

The funny part is that with such a low PC price, some people are still trying to resurrect old PCs.
