Popular hardware July 2007

I like to post whatever popular hardware nowadays. May be we can update or start a new thread once every three months or so. Everyone is encouraged to put in whatever right stuffs they believe.

Here is my list soley based on my own value system; expensive does not mean much to me ;)

Processor: E2160, E6420
MB: Gigabyte P35
Memory: G.Skill DDR2 800 (just got 2x1GB for less than $84 a month ago)
Graphic card: 8600GTS
HDD: 300 to 500GB whatever as long as the price is below $100
Power Supply: Seasonic
Case: Chenbro SR10568-AL (built like a tank)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811123085

Let's hear yours.:)

Gfx: 8800gts 320 :) almost twice as fast as your 8600gts, and doesn't cost twice as much (not even close $199 vs $250)

Without overclocking, a low-end AMD system might be the better choise.

Not sure, price drops end this month put Intel on par with AMD in low range; and then the E2160 really blasts past the A64 performance wise;

the Core based Celeron is also quite fast

I think that the 4300 is as low as you should go with the 6420 being the next step for a budget scenario without overclocking. The lower power consumption is nice to keep the noise down.

I was hoping to hear from you what your popular hardwares are;)

Not really, only true when you overclock the E2160. :)

E2160 at stock speed is equally fast as equally priced X4400+, or even a tad slower.

it's slower, check E4300 value vs AMD

I still say that Lian Li makes the best cases.
