Nforce chipsets are fast, but not reliable.

look @ the AN50R, high failrate when overclocking, strange, but why ?
even in normal use, it acts up.
like Calantak, I use a I875 mobo, for one year today, fast as hell, no probs what so ever, even with different rams, overclocked it like hell, and it still works....
why ???

looks like Nvidia-Via and SIS had a lot to learn about making good chipsets, maybe try to spy on Intel ?
and it's not only the mobo manufacturers who make bad mobo's, it all starts with the chip.

one year old today, never had a setup that long, had to check it to be sure

I'm selling something, and I get some money + either that mainboard, or another 50€

Like intel based board are without problems.

Asus in particular is doing REALLY bad these days. Seeing some serious screwups from their side. (P4P800-E Deluxe is one of the worst cases lately)
MSI had some problems with their nForce lineup....

It's all about hardware makers pushing the standards to the limits. And someties beyond, and that's when it goes awry.

I agree with freestyler, while Intel chipset seem te be more reliable, they surely aren't all 'built to last'. I've had two 865PE boards, which were pretty stable, but not as stable as the motherboards I used to have 3 to 5 years ago.

all boards that performe well, you are in trouble...
remember KT266A, Epox 8KHA+,high performance but extreme high failrate, C1
and I can go on.
had one 8KTA3+(AMD 761, why forget AMD's chip) a few years ago, stable as hell, but no performance.

looks like Intel has everything in place, performance an durability.
my 2 cents.

I consider Dell/Intel branded 875PE boards to be very stable, but if you're going for low-cost / tweakable 865PE boards i guess you have it coming. : )

I've bought a Dell with an 875PE and 4*512MB ram a few weeks back, very stable. However none of the two cheapo 865PE boards i bought where able to run flawless with 2*512mb. : /

heck, this discussion can go on and on, as almost all our opinions are based on a few dozen boards. But i think it's safe to asume the quality of hardware isn't the same as it used to be.

I had my Pentium I motherboard die on me also, and I didn't even know the term "overclocking" then.

also had 1 dead 486 mobo.

Sorry to revive such an old thread.

I'm looking for a way to to reflash my epox 8rda3+ bios. It died on me on behalf of a bOrked psu.

I've tried to contact epox, but i get no respons.

Are there still people alive with a nforce2 based MB who'll let me use their BIOS chip or mobo for a hotsflash?

Greetz, /carlito

8rda+ died frequently because of a broken bios chip, but don't you think a broken PSU would have damaged something else?
