first NF7 died also after 4 months, no extreme mods done or something like that.

the replacement board is now running for 7 or 8 months

So many deaths...

I tried a third bios: doesn't boot. Damnit. 1 motherboard for the price of 4... new kind of marketing? : /

maybe bad luck is haunting you

my abit nf7-s and now my dfi infinity work flawless, but thats not the point afaik.
i heard of people doing the strangest things to revive those Nforce 2's
putting the jumper on clear for a night or removing the battery for a long time.
maybe thats an idea?

(btw offtopic i know, but gentoo on a gaming rig?!? does that go with the modern games?)

Hmmm... the DFI NF2 ULTRA gets great reviews (extremely overclockable, fastest nf2 at stock speed) and it's reasonably cheap (83 euro), but it comes with a sata controller i've never heard of with just one port. : /

@quarantaine: linux gaming is no prob at all if you have an nvidia card (ati linux drivers suck) and stick to games which support OpenGL.
