thxs jmke and kristos for the l12 mod links. From the looks of it I have a NF7 that will not do over 200fsb. What would you guys recommend:
RMA the mobo (or selling it on ebay) and getting another
or going for a completely different mobo
what mobo would you recommend instead for a athlon-m 2500+?

DFI Infinity is known to reach high speeds

I would RMA if you were in the U.S. Abit would give you back a kick *** board, I did twice.

Selling in eBay is an option provided you state the fact that it wouldn't go over 200 FSB, otherwise you are taking a chance of getting return.

heh, i flashed that bios, im doing 11x220 right now, prime stable. memory is 2.5-3-3-11 :) hehehe, and jus when i was giving up, im gonna push it so more and get some BM's after a clean install

Sorry to hear that Makaveli7 (you did check if the mod worked didn't you? load optimized defaults in the bios and check if it set the fsb to 166?) If you stay with abit, take Lazyman's advice, if you want another board, take jmke's advice and flash the latest bios or even better,a modded version of latest bios.

A new abit with a modded bios will get you on the way but it needs mods (just done the mods malves way and for a first time delicate solder/mod it was a realy frustrating event :grum: but on the bright side, everything still works :) ) to go the distance and even then, a modded dfi board will most likely beat the nf7 fsb wise. also, the dfi allows up to 3.3 V to the ram without mods.

Nice going ssl6 :)

ssl6 which bios did u use?

jmke 30th September 2004 15:03

quite an improvement there SSL6 !

yes it is:)

i gave my cpu 2.1v in the bios so i can oc it from windows with the nv utility (it doesnt give me voltage options for some reason) so im slowly pushing it up. i just bought my ram not too long ago...and its definitely not using bh5 chips like its sposed to. i hate having to loosen the timings so much, i know several people with the same kit that have hit 230 or so with the stock timings:(

im at 11.5x225 right now. and my timings are 2.5-4-3-11 and temps are 45c under load:)

2.1v vcore is darn high
