I don't think with/without shroud will help much in the temps, I have never noticed a remarkable difference between the 2 setups.
fan from the side: any old case which has a fan at the back of the PC can be turned around to pull in air over the heatsink, recreating the "silent casefan" setup

the PAL8045 is just not up to par anymore. I'm testing the SP-97 and MCX462-V now, and the Pal8045 is left behind by more then 10-15°C !

on such high CFM fans it might not differ much since that would restrict the airflow but on low flow setups it might.... (like the setup i have atm).

You'll be probably right tho... im not much of an overclocker... i own apacer ram

edit: btw... do u reckon i could get my new avatar up here? its 55kb, 10k over your size...hosted on telenet server so downtime is almost none....
