Default Intel doesn’t want dual Atoms in netbooks

Dual Atom, according to a very high profile Intel executive is not meant for netbook and it should never end up there.

Shmuel (Mooly) Eden the Vice President General Manager, Mobile Platforms Group at Intel, believes that dual Atoms are too hot for netbooks, and that OEMs wouldn’t want to use something like that in their designs.

You need to put fan on a dual Atom, and this is not a very popular decision among netbook manufacturers. At the same time, the dual-core Atom is not really a power saving CPU, as it was not developed with mobile in mind. The power stats are not great and the dual-core will suck the battery dry much faster.
