Default new build

Hi Iam building a new rig and the computer wont
reconise my dvd player,it wont light up or open.
tried different conectors and data cables. get reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device
when I boot up. also tried different dvd, It will light up but not open
cpu E6750 2.66
mobo asus pk5c p35
mem 2 GB corsair 6400
hard drive WD sata 250 gb
graphics asus en 8600 gts
dvd asus 18X IDE lightscribe
PS enermax 460 watt
