BitFenix Colossus ATX Case Review

Cases & PSU/Cases by stefan @ 2010-09-21

The Colossus is the first case launched from BitFenix, a new company on the market. The case has some interesting features like a very innovative TRON-like lightening, a top compartment with lock and the cable routing/hiding options. The included 2x230mm fans provide enough cooling and there is a fan controller that has spare connections for up to 4 extra fans.

A Closer Look Part 2

The front door has a plastic grill under it, to permit ventilation when it’s kept closed:

The top part where we have the lid can be used to store different little objects, but this is also the place to connect our peripherals:

Here we can see also the Reset and Power buttons, the fan controller dial, but also two buttons that control the external lights (one for switching between red and blue colors and one for cycling between the light effects):

On the side with the top lid hinges, we can find two USB 3.0 spare ports:

Next to them, but on another side, two spare USB 2.0 ports can be found, along with the microphone and headphone jacks:

Finally, on the opposite side, we can find an eSATA port:

On the top of the case we can also find the opening and mesh for the large 230mm fan:

Each side panel is secured with two easy to operate thumbscrews:

On the back of each side panel, we can find a black material fixed in some screws that protects the light system inside:

From each side panel we can see a cable exiting that must be connected to the dedicated wires inside the case:
