the deadspot on the center shouldn't matter much as current heatpipes deliver the heat quickly all over the sink, or at least they should

Well guys, I thought I had to report back here, so I'm doing that right now.

I've upgraded to an Antec SLK-3000B Case (with 2 120mm Papst fans controlled by Zalman Fanmate 2), an LC-Power Silent Giant 550W PSU (with 140mm fan), and the above mentioned Arctic Cooling Freezer64.

My system is now VERY quiet, and the Freezer64 is really doing its job. Especially under load, it beats the stock cooler with quite a few degrees. No problem in running @ 2.7GHz while stressing heavily.

So, I've got great cooling performance for a very nice price, and madshrimps is to thank for that ;) - thank you guys.

the backplate of the Scythe coolers can be quite destructive; I passed on the Scythe SHOGUN to a fellow reviewer (piotke) for testing and he noticed a small resistor in the bracket;

my DFI motherboard is still working though, but it could have been worse.. the glue/sticker used on the Scythe backplate is way TOO strong

And it did not affect your board?

I was running benchmarks for upcoming review with the board when Piotke told me over MSN that he found a resistor in the bracket, so the board is still running fine:)

+ the backplate doens not fit the asus A8N Sli in a decent way.

- to much presure on the resistors
- one of the 4 legs touches the solderting point of the mostest (on the back of mainboard.

But it works fine with the bracket that came with the boxed cooler / mainboard.
