| Tyan S2895 (CK08-04 based) dual nVidia mobo The Inquirer has dug-up photos via HKEPC of Tyan's soon to be released S2895 mobo. The board was intended for Workstation/Server technology, however; its Socket-939 versatility and dually potential may make it the ideal platform for Gamer's? The board features nVidia's CK08-04 dual core logic chipset-set, and it's quite the happy S-939 abomination. If anyone can make a "dual" platform right it's Tyan. You can view all the photo's here, and for your pleasure I've attached my favorite below. You can learn more about nVidia's dual core logic CK08-04/Pro chipsets at XBitLabs. |

| That's very cool and all but only Opteron's can be run in dual CPU setup, or am I missing something?

anyway, ontoppic: afaik, tyan is the only board maker that offers x16 for both vidcards instead of splitting up 1 x16 slot into 2 x8 slots. I know PCIe x16 gains you virtually nothing over PCIe x8 or AGP 8x in a single vidcard settup but how about an SLI setup? About the dual proc thing. for overclockers it's a real pitty that you need opterons to make it work or enjoy the benefits of two processors and I'm guessing that you'd need a seriously modded bios to make overclocking possible on these boards, maybe it's just not possible, I don't know. but for gamers with a cashflow from here to Tokio () who want only the best of the best, this is it. After all, if Alienware's top end use dual proc configurations, it can't be a bad thing now can it | |

| Tyan ... the very original player in Server boards. Only for Xeon and 940 Opteron .... met many IT guys at shows trying to cool the suckers a bit with less air-conditioning running or setting up a "cool room" for the servers. The exact opposite to some enthusiasts; while this group only looks for 120% stability; HDD speed matches with Processors; 120% accuracy in data capture.

| I like Kristos blurb on this board MUCH better then mine. I was reading about the CK08-04's claimed PCIe 20X (from XBit: "...something NVIDIA calls PCI Express x20.") which as he's broken down more clearly is actually 16X plus they add in the number of other PCI 1X buses (kinda tricky I thought). His clarification about the potential graphics boost of two processors in an SLI environment was the point I failed to mention, and Gamers need to know this. Opterons aren't so bad are they (hehe)? Were doing good on this news story, only the Inquirer is following up on this so far. Here's their next blurb on the board which speculates the cost to be $400 to $500 dual Gigabit Enet, SIx channel sound, 30 channels deriving from dual SCSI 320, 16GB of DDR333/400, Chipkill, and ECC. By the way have you seen were given mention "Madshrimps says that the Athlon 64 S754 platform can be quite a pain in the backside..." (with link to the S-754 article) at the bottom of this Inquirer piece (page) scroll to bottom http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19990 |

| "collection of thoughts" is what most people refer to when mentioning "blurb"
