Spain wants to give billions to chip companies

Because that will solve the energy crisis

Dumb-arsed politicians in Spain are joining Italy in thinking that they will solve all their energy and financial problems by giving huge amounts of cash to chip companies.

Spain will spend 11 billion euros on a plan to boost the semiconductor and microchip industry, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced.

He follows Germany and cash-strapped Italy who believe that they will solve all their problems by giving European Union pandemic relief funds, which were supposed to protect consumers from the economic downturn, by giving cash to bribe large chip companies to open factories in their country.

While the most sensible thing to do is to spend the cash upgrading energy infrastructure to provide their countries with cheap power which is free from dependence on Tsar Putin, the Spanish think it is better that they solve the worldwide shortage of microchips instead.

Of course, the chips will not work if no one can afford to put electricity into them, but apparently, that sort of negativity is one of the reasons why we are not European politicians.
