A heavily fragmented hard drive can rob your PC of performance and stability. Windows has its own defragmenting utility that does an average job of defragmenting your drive. But it is slow; has no convenient scheduling feature for unattended jobs, and doesn’t deal with a number of critical system files that also suffer from fragmentation, but at the same time cannot be optimized while Windows is running.
A number of products are available that do a much better job than Microsoft’s utility of keeping fragmentation on your hard drive under control for improved performance and reliability, without your intervention. And while these defragmentation utilities all perform the same function, not all of them are created equal, as we’ll see as we take a look at Raxco PerfectDisk Workstation 7.0.
