Default Nothing Phone (2a) to feature custom Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset

Mediatek chip might give it a nice boost

Nothing has unveiled that the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a custom Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, co-developed with Mediatek. The 4nm SoC could give it an edge over similar competing phones on the market, at least if Nothing nails the price.

According to Nothing, the chip will give the Phone (2a) an 18 percent higher performance compared to the Phone (1), which was based on the Snapdragon 778G+, all while drawing 16 percent less power, which usually means longer battery life. In its video, which you can check out below, Nothing outlined that it did consider both the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 782G, and the 7200 Pro is faster than both of them.

The normal Mediatek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC comes with an eight-core CPU part with two Cortex-A715 and six Cortex-A510 cores. It is paired up with Arm Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, and Mediatek 5th generation APU 650.

Nothing also incorporated several other improvements and optimizations, including better integration with Nothing OS, that should result in lower power draw from other components of the phone, better read and write performance, as well as connectivity performance improvements with the PC.
