Default Johnny Depp to Lend Voice to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow

June 23, 2006 (Rockville, MD) ¾ Bethesda Softworks® today announced that award-winning actor Johnny Depp will lend his voice as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming video game, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow. Slated for a June 27 release for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and the PC, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow features a blend of fast-paced action and adventure.

“We are thrilled to have Johnny Depp working on this project,” says Todd Vaughn, executive producer of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow. “We couldn’t imagine a better way to capture the spirit of the character than to have Depp lend his voice to Captain Jack Sparrow. It truly adds to an already rich gameplay experience.”

Depp received a Best Actor Academy Award® nomination for his work in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” in 2004.

Developed by Seven Studios and Bethesda Softworks and distributed under license from Buena Vista Games, Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow provides players with a unique gaming experience. Play as Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner as you slash and hack your way through fully interactive and immersive environments. The adventures are yours to experience first hand in this exciting action game that embodies the characters and settings of the popular films.

best game based on movie "idea" ever; I can think of no other pc/console game which is based on a movie that does it better as Butcher Bay

well, there was the x-wing/tie-fighter/jediknight/... games based off the star wars games which were pretty dang good back in the ol' days.

wing commander & the old starship troopers game (the squad based RTS, not the moronic FPS) also come to mind. although those were not made after the movies. (the wing commander movie was made after the game & the ST game+movie were made after the books)
