Intel officially launches the Core i9-12900KS CPU

The world's fastest desktop processor for $739

Intel has officially launched its Core i9-12900KS, marketing it as the world's fastest desktop processor. It should be available on retail/e-tail shelves as of April 5th with $739 MSRP.

As it is clearly stated on the box, the Core i9-12900KS is a "Special Edition" unlocked CPU so it is obvious this one will have both a premium price as well as limited availability.

According to Intel, the Core i9-12900KS is to be paired up with a Z690 chipset motherboard with the latest BIOS in order to get the most out of it. Specification-wise, the Core i9-12900KS is similar to the Core i9-12900K, featuring eight P- and eight E-cores, 24-threads, 125W PBP (241W maximum turbo power), and 30MB of Intel Smart Cache, but with a higher "up to 5.5GHz max turbo frequency with Intel Thermal Velocity Boost".
