Default Intel headhunts more AMD and Nvidia staff

Headed for the Koduri's Xe GPU team

Intel appears to be sprucing up its Xe GPU team by headhunting talent from AMD.

It all started after Raja Koduri and Chris Hook (AMD PR veteran) defected to Chipzilla followed by a few AMD technical marketing members, Antal Tungler and Damien Triolet.

Recently Nvidia’s Mark Taylor has snuck into Intel followed by Tom Petersen.

Now Heather Lennon who has been responsible for AMD's RTG Digital Marketing has defected.

Lennon now joins Intel as Senior Manager, Digital Marketing for Graphics, and will work closely with Mark Taylor, an ex-Nvidia exec who now leads technical marketing at Intel Graphics. Raja Koduri is overseeing Intel's project to make inroads to the discrete GPU market under the new Xe brand, not just to serve gamers and PC enthusiasts, but more importantly, GPU compute, cloud computing, and AI markets.

Koduri is reportedly lending insights to Intel's new Gen11 integrated graphics architecture, which debuts with its 10 nm "Ice Lake" processors.

It is starting to look like Koduri, and his team, are creating an 'RTG team' within Intel.

It shows that Chipzilla is serious about Xe and all derivatives on the IGP side that will come from the architecture.

The initial Xe series will cover a broad spectrum of the market, intended for the discrete market, gaming as well as addressing compute, deep learning and AI markets.
