(HPQ.N: Quote, Profile, Research) recaptured the worldwide lead in personal computer shipments from rival Dell Inc. (DELL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) in the third quarter as global market growth slowed, two industry research groups said on Wednesday. Gartner Inc. said Hewlett-Packard moved into the No. 1 position for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2003 with a lead of 110,000 units over Dell, while IDC put the lead at 28,000 units, which it considered a statistical tie at 17.2 percent of the world market.
