Default Google tells Gemini to stop talking about elections

It is more trouble than it is worth

Google's AI chatterbox, Gemini, is getting gagged on gabbing about this year's global elections.

The tech titan's taking no chances, banning its bot to prevent it from blabbering about the ballot box. So, if you're itching for the inside scoop on Biden vs. Trump, Gemini's playing dumb, and will tell you to give Google Search a whirl instead.

Google clamped down stateside in December, but now they're going global, zipping Gemini's digital lips with an eye on the worldwide wave of elections in 2024.

"We're erring on the side of caution," chirped a Google spokesperson, as the company battens down the hatches.

It's not just the Yanks heading to the polls; from South Africa to India, the world's biggest democracy, the election fever's catching. India's even telling tech boffins to get a government nod before letting their AI gizmos loose, slapping warning labels on any that might still be a bit green around the gills.
