![]() | ![]() If a memory company chooses not to use branded IC's then they can use several different types of unbranded parts. The three major types of IC’s to select for value memory are; ETT, UTT, and downgraded DRAM. Right now UTT and ETT modules are starting to make a buzz in the DIY computer industry... ![]() | ![]() I've read both articles and found them to be somewhat interesting. In my mind, the memories are tested, just the UTT may have failed the voltage specifications, hence UTT memory requires much higher voltage than the 2.5 volt spec called for. OEMs like Dell, HP, Gateway will not go for the high voltage. Only Mad people would. The Taiwan business people ain't "stupid" to say the least, they found the enthusiasts market and the name UTT means nothing as long as there are buyers. The same applies to GSkill, Mushkin, OZ, Corsair etc.
