Help us, John Giannandrea, you are our only hope

Fruity cargo cult Apple has head hunted Google's chief of search and artificial intelligence John Giannandrea in a desperate bid to catch up with its rivals on AI.

The Tame Apple Press is claiming the head-hunting is a "major coup". Giannandrea will run Apple's overall "machine learning and AI strategy" reporting directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook.

However, it is clear that Apple has to do something as its AI offerings on SIRI make Donald Trump look coherent and articulate.

CEO Tim Cook said Apple's technology must be infused with the values "we all hold dear". So we guess he means very expensive versions of what is already available. But apparently, Cook was talking about things like privacy.

Giannandrea is a 53 year old Scot who lead the push to integrate AI throughout Google's products, including internet search, Gmail and its digital assistant, Google Assistant.

He joined Google in 2010 when it purchased Metaweb, a start-up where he served as chief technology officer. Metaweb was building what it described as a "database of the world's knowledge," which Google eventually rolled into its search engine to deliver direct answers to users' queries.
