AMD confirms Radeon 7000 series

Appearing at the end of the year

The wall of silence which has been built around AMDs next-generation of Radeon RX 7000 GPUs has been lifted a little.

For a while now, AMD has said nothing about the RX 7000 and this led to rumours that the outfit was considering a late release for the range sometime next year.

However, AMD told Videocardz that the Radeon 7000 series is still fully set to make its debut before the end of this year. Of course, a lot could happen between then. The forces of darkness could order another lockdown and send those who have not had their sixth booster shot into concentration camps which might disrupt any release date.

But the new chip is much awaited. It is part of Nvidia’s transition to RDNA 3 graphics architecture. The Radeon 7000 series will utilise both 7nm and 6nm node design which is then combined into a single GPU die. This would be the consumer debut of AMD’s MCM technology and would be a significant step up on their existing 6000 GPUs.

AMD should confirm Ryzen 6000 CPUs and Radeon 7000 GPU launches around August/September with a subsequent release being set for around September/October.
