what is clantak?

wutske 28th August 2006 21:28

okay, we're getting nowhere overher :D .

So, there is SATA (aka SATA150) and SATA2 (aka SATA300).
SATA = SATA2 , the only real difference is that the maximum througput is 300Mb/s on SATA2 vs. 150Mb/s on SATA and SATA2 supports NCQ (some tweak to get more speed, most of the time you won't even notice).

It's made to be interchangeable, a SATA2 drive works perfectly on a SATA connection and vise versa.

Now the RAID part. I can tell you one thing, yes, the chip on your motherboard supports at least RAID0 and RAID1, how do I know ... every SATA controller supports those RAID modes. Now RAID can be a bit complicated, google a bit and you'll see the light again :D
