seriously fux0red

My 8rda+ went up in flames today... it killed my GFX card as well (Ti4200). I haven't had a chance to test my friggin' expensive RAM (2* Corsair XMS3200) and CPU (XP2400+), i really, really hope they didn't die as well. :(

That's the risk when you're overclocking I guess. I hope I have better luck on my exams.

jmke 3rd January 2003 21:12

If I had a case I would borrow a folder I have here right away :-/
currently looking for cheap/small ATX cases so that can house 2 folders which aren't used for anything but folding

the only cased folder is serving in the network as the domain controller.. sorry RichyB :(

PlayboY 3rd January 2003 21:14

WTF?? What did you do?
Is it because of the voltmodding?? Man, I feel sorry for you.

sad day :/

jmke 3rd January 2003 21:14

he sent me a SMS
1.95v is too much for the chipset...

RichBa5tard 3rd January 2003 21:16

I've got a temporarly unused ATX case. If you're still planning on dropping by this weekend, a backup rig would be very helpful. :)

I've seen other ppl running at 1.97v, even someone at 2.41v (!). 1.95v killed my board instantly though. :/

jmke 3rd January 2003 21:19

I will try to drop by sunday around noon with my Duron900 system

The Senile Doctor 3rd January 2003 21:19

I have mine running aircooled/unmodded at 1.9 volts for about 4 days now 24 hours per day priming... no probs yet

PlayboY 3rd January 2003 21:21

don't think so. Guess he means the vcore

DUR0N 3rd January 2003 21:22

:super:

@calantak: 1.9 Vdd?
I figured if Epox thinks it's healthy to run a chipset at 1.6 cooled with a louzy passive heatsink and sun gum between, 1.9v & watercooling would not kill it instantly.

RMA'ing the Ti4200 should be possible, except the lapped gpu it's in original state.

TerAngreal 3rd January 2003 21:31

if i could drop buy tomorrow for that HP cartridge i could bring along that duron system from JMke ... :)

(could take it along without the cartridge as well tho :) )

RichBa5tard 3rd January 2003 21:48

Sorry TA, I already promised to give it to BR (he replied first). :s

I'm not going to stop you if you want to bring the folding rig anyway. :D

TerAngreal 3rd January 2003 21:54

i'll let you know something tomorrow ... there's a fair chance my brother'll drive to leuven tomorrow, then i'll tag along on bring over the rig

if not - it'll be sunday by herr JMke

jmke 3rd January 2003 21:57

Duron900 system uses SDR ram
ATA33 HD & PCI Vidcard & 10mbit networkcard btw

told ya it was a cheapo system :)

RichBa5tard 3rd January 2003 21:58

No probs, as long as it can compile Java it's ok. :)

jmke 3rd January 2003 22:03

it's a great folder, so it shouldn't be any problem for a small JAVA thingy

it even has a nice speedadjuster for the 80mm CPU fan
so you can (& shall ) keep it running 24/24

hey, if you put a nice , silent 120mm fan near to it, it can even go withou the CPU fan :)

Gamer 3rd January 2003 22:21

damn, sorry to hear that RB :(

try RMA.

RichBa5tard 3rd January 2003 22:26

I will if i find the bloody receipt. >(

Gamer 3rd January 2003 22:30

DJ-EviL 4th January 2003 01:08

ouch bad news :(

i hope my 8rda+ will never fry when i have my new system :-/

jmke 4th January 2003 01:20

as long as you don't put 2v through your chipset, I think you'll be okay ;)

biCker 4th January 2003 01:57

you can use my PIV setup for a few weeks if you really need a slighty faster rig for a few weeks. I'll call you when I'm awake tomorrow

deronny 4th January 2003 02:02

SUCKY
you can use it as an excuse with mister fox on the exam maybe ;)
