lockups/reboots with ati 9700pro a friend of mine's got a weird problem, whenever he plays a game (enter the matrix/counterstrike/quake3/......) his pc freezes/reboots. When he uses his old TI500 instead, everything runs smooth. I thought maybe it was because he recently installed new drivers from ati so he removed those completely and installed the ones from the original cd which never gave him any problems, but again freezes/reboots ahoy now, this evening, he re-installed his windows and installed the good drivers from the cd, but still his pc freezes and sh*t like that anybody recognize this problem? could this be a driver-problem or could the card just be busted? :wtf:

HS is fine, fan spins at full force, I also touched the back of the gpu-core and that doesn't feel hot at all, just warm just checked his BIOS and it seems his AGP was set to 4x instead of 8x, going to see if that had anything to do with it

Try it in another PC, if it won't help, b0rked card. Chances are that it is broken anyway.
