Default Learn Java

I'm planning to learn a bit java,
but, erm, dunno where to start !

eg, what compilers do I need, wich software bundles..
and where can i found some guides to get started.

i've done already some google'ing, and found some interesting sites. But most of them are to specialised for a starter like me.

txl !

"introduction to object oriented programming" buy J.Who is an excellent book to learn Java. I think you can get it at Wouters, but i've got one to spare somewhere if you want to borrow it.

Sites:
java.sun.com => tutorials & JAVA API's (all you need to know which class can do what)

Software needed: Java SDK 1.4.x (sourcecode of all the basic classes & command line compiler) @java.sun.com
Excellent no-nonsense compiler: JCreator LE (free software, uses SDK's, google it)
