The mbot.org databank now hosts more than 1.000 unique 3Dmark01 and SuperPi results each. Yay. :)

This info would have been great if i'd added popular games too.

jmke 19th August 2004 10:45

bot down?
http://madmark.madoka.be/ gives me blank page.

RichBa5tard 23rd August 2004 23:13

It has been down a few times last week, yes.

I've upped v1.3rc1. Just a few little, behind the scenes, bugfixes. Let's hope this one gives me less downtime.

jmke 26th August 2004 22:18

botje seems down again?

RichBa5tard 26th August 2004 22:22

Arg, damn host denies access to my logs, so I can't figure out what's going wrong. : / Only thing I can do atm is redeploy the application everytime it goes down. Darn.

-edit-
Working again... for now.

RichBa5tard 2nd September 2004 16:32

One week later and no more hick-ups. Phew. :)

Next release will include an easy feature & bugfix request form.

kristos 6th September 2004 23:04

would it be possible to have the bot update the first page with all the scores from the fora instead of each fora seperately? Or would other forum members (or you) rather not do that.

RichBa5tard 6th September 2004 23:58

What do you mean? The "world stats" section isn't sufficient?

kristos 7th September 2004 12:54

Well, right now, I have to surft the different fora to get a better view of the scores. It would be much easier if I could just surf to the madshrimps thread and see the scores from everyone who submitted their score, be it on XS or shrimps or ...

RichBa5tard 7th September 2004 13:16

Aah ok. Well, you should visit http://madmark.madoka.be, the site hosting the mbot engine.

It's a little bit short on features atm but I think the "browse results" and "browse mbots" section might interest you.

kristos 7th September 2004 14:05

Did that already but browse mbot by category gives you the leading scores of all the teams and browse results will eather give you the scores of 1 person if you fill in a name or give you the top 10. Now the top 10 is great but I'm more interested in what everyone is scoring (and more in particular the Belgians :p)

Don't take this as criticism(?) it's just how i'd like the scores to show in the fora, that's all :)

:offtopic: btw madshrimps is cheating a bit cuz umekami10 (superpi) isn't really a forum member afaik ;)

RichBa5tard 7th September 2004 23:21

Constructive critisicm is always welcome. ;)

The possibility to remove entries or block entries from the ranking is high on the todo list.

jmke 29th September 2004 17:58

down again?

RichBa5tard 2nd October 2004 18:30

Yeah, and I think I finally found the problem. It's not the app itself, it's the MySQL database on the host which can't handle it. I can access all my tables fine, but the table holding the results doesn't respond. I can't drop it, I can't select from it, I can't delete any records... darn.

I'm placing the app on my own server. People won't be able to access the site, but al least the mbot threads would get updated.

jmke 2nd October 2004 23:49

:super:

what kind of crappy hosting is that btw? ;)

RichBa5tard 22nd October 2004 16:21

The engine is currently running on a private server. You won't be able to access the site, but the threads are now up to date. :)

Tech 29th November 2004 19:15

Could you please update InsaneTek's bot for me? Since the site is down I can't update it manually like I've been doing. Do you have any idea when you will be able to get the site back up?

RichBa5tard 5th December 2004 19:46

dedicated mbot server!

Hi Tech,

The 3Dmark01 and 03 thread on insanetek are up to date, SuperPi is not. I don't know why, can't see why it wouldn't update the first post.

On the brighter side, after a few months of downtime, the mbot now has a dedicated server. w00t!

Specs:
Athlon XP1700+ @ 2.0Ghz
Asus KT880, gigabit nic, dual channel, ...
512Mb DDR400

Bandwith is not too great, but it's a start:
1GB / month upload
192Kbps capped

The address is now http://213.224.90.80:7001/mbot/

RichBa5tard 5th December 2004 20:46

Can someone give me some feedback on the speed? Is 192Kbps upload speed doable?

jmke 5th December 2004 20:47

very good speed!
updated SuperPi & F@H with force and it went very fast

Tech 5th December 2004 22:12

Works great. Thanks a lot! I <3 mbot.

Speed is great, but I wonder: how long are you gonna keep that IP?

RichBa5tard 6th December 2004 07:32

Seems like keeping page size < 15Kb pays of. :)

It's a dynamic IP, but it almost never changes. My kotnet IP has never changed in three years. I don't know how frequently my Telenet IP changes, but I hope it stays the same too.

Kotnet is like one big network that is connected to the rest of the net via a central server. This is why your IP almost never changes.
Telenet hands out new IP's every 4-36 hours to keep their IP pool small.

jmke 6th December 2004 10:26

my telenet IP changes every other year or so ;)

RichBa5tard 6th December 2004 11:24

About as frequent as you shut down your computer? :p

jmke 6th December 2004 11:49

Indeed; why is this a bad thing? ;)à

Dit the same thing with Actua in the early days (when it was hosted @ home).

That's why the forumengine still uses very few bandwidth :)

But since I added support for attachments, I hosted it | priorweb (already a year).

Recently I'm trying to run a ut2004 server for some gaming with friends, but my IP keeps changing several times a day :(

Anyway, going littel bit offtopic...

Kepp up the good work I'd say!

RichBa5tard 24th December 2004 23:00

updated the mbot engine with a few small fixes and a usefull feature: the botlist now contains a link to the participating forum thread.

http://213.224.90.80:7001/mbot/listBots.do

http://213.224.90.80:7001/mbot/index.jsp

kristos 3rd February 2005 07:29

Howcome XS gets updatdated and madshrimps doesn't?

RichBa5tard 25th April 2005 21:14

Joy joy, the bot has had another upgrade.

Bugs squashed:
- duplicate results removed
- next best bot ranking fixed
- accuracy of results improved to 2 digits after comma

Features:
- ability to block results for moderators (bot view page)

RichBa5tard 5th August 2005 13:29

Huge update today!

Some really, really cool features added:
- add / remove / browse hardware online
http://www.hwbot.org/browseHardware.do
- automatic matching of hw to results (* admins only)
- look at average gpu/mem overclock of each hw item (!!)
eg. 6800 core average overclock:
http://www.hwbot.org/VideoCardModelBrowse.do?coreId=21
- support for pcmark04,05, superpi 3m, aquamark, ...

Full release notes:
http://www.hwbot.org/

Not all hardware has been added yet. Feel free to add missing cards / processors!

Guide for correct keyword use: "|" means or, "," means and. Or has higher priority.
eg. to match GeForce 1 DDR the keywords could be "gf1, ddr | geforce ddr" which means a result with the keywords ('gf1' and 'ddr') or 'geforce ddr' would be matched to the videocard.

jmke 5th August 2005 13:40

when trying to add new videocard category

"I made a booboo due to crappy coding skills. Sorry... "

ATI | Radeon
ATI
1995-01

RichBa5tard 5th August 2005 19:46

There's no, or little checks on fields left blank. If it's not that, it's probably something stupid i overlooked when putting it on the production server.

will check later tonight.

RichBa5tard 8th August 2005 14:49

The forms for adding / editing hardware now have input validation. You should not encounter a bug anymore when adding hw.

I also redesigned the browse videocard screen. Looks userfriendly to me now. : )

RichBa5tard 7th November 2005 13:20

111 bots, 24 teams, 6000+ results. hwbot is growing : )

jmke 7th November 2005 13:29

did ya see my comment about the "faq"? :)

"Can I bots myself" ?

RichBa5tard 7th November 2005 13:56

forgot about that. : )

RichBa5tard 17th November 2005 21:57

renewed the front page. News is loaded on demand with ajax.

http://www.hwbot.org/

better or not? it doesn't show too well in IE. : /
