Who says you can't get good 3 euro / year j2ee hosting hosting anymore? ;)

Does anyone know affordable j2ee (tomcat, jboss) hosting in .be?

updates:

* category autodedection (5 entries minimum)
* global ranking
* even less bandwith consumption (*)
* many internal changes
* results are mapped in db, future possibility of weekly changement (eg FaH)

(*) each +- 3hours each page of a thread is checked against the older one. Only if it's changed it will be downloaded. Checking the header of a page barely consumes bandwith (1 vs 120kb), but it still raises the 'views' counter.

jmke 8th June 2004 13:37

when do you have to present your work to the prof?

RichBa5tard 8th June 2004 14:03

Friday i think. But since it's works well and I use a fun & effective way to develop it, I don't plan to put the project on hold afterwards. I've got nearly free hosting till octobre, I better make good use of it. : )

The bot seems to be pretty sturdy now. It no longer fails when someone enters an invalid mbot entry, and one failed bot doesn't affect another.

Great job bastard :-)
You kept the honor of us rega students high, we are all proud of you. :super:

jmke 11th June 2004 14:49

your editor is proud of you! =)

RichBa5tard 11th June 2004 21:11

yup, completly 0wned this course. And i even didn't have to use flashy colors. :)

how was yours, angelus?

AngeluS 11th June 2004 22:11

Quite ok, i had some nice code with which he was impressed.
But we talked most of the time about my project in Portugal, he was really interested in what i did there.
So we both owned him, each in a different way.

the FAQ and Credit page have other layouts, the left column is too large

RichBa5tard 12th June 2004 16:56

Arg, IE6 doesn't like w3c standards. No prob in mozilla.

jmke 12th June 2004 16:57

check the XS PiFast thread, there someone who put in

[mbot]nickname - score - P4 3.2EE WinXP[/mbot]

he sits in the XP subcategorie instead of P4 :)

RichBa5tard 12th June 2004 17:16

That bastard. : )

I can't request ppl to format their system specs according to very strict rules, so it will never be fool proof. All in all, i think the subcategory dedector works fine.

The current limit of a subcat is currently min 5, max 10, the limit of the general ranking is 0-75. Are these okay or should I change them? Remember there's a sizelimit, if i would turn the limits of the 3dmark@shrimp contest, the first post would be longer than allowed (5000 chars?).

jmke 12th June 2004 17:29

it's fine as is in my humble opinion, subcats should only show top5 instead of 10

jmke 27th June 2004 11:27

http://madmark.madoka.be:8080/hallOfFame.do

F@H hall of fame is flawed ;)

RichBa5tard 27th June 2004 13:05

New and more featurerich site/engine will be up next week. :)

RichBa5tard 29th June 2004 22:54

Mbot.org now runs the new v1.2 rc1 engine. Most bugs have been fixed and a few new neat features are added, like:

- multilanguage support. (currently English and Dutch)
- support for personal message in bot post
- better global rank section in bot post
- 24h increase tag in folding stats
- ability to edit bot behaviour
- ability to edit team
- ability to force a bot launch
- slightly improved website userfriendliness

jmke 29th June 2004 23:04

great work! :ws:

I created a user jmke and joined the [m] team, when I try to to http://madmark.madoka.be:8080/hallOfFame.do

I receive ServletException in:/resultlist.hof.jsp] No getter method for property formatterTypes of bean constants'

edit: error is also there when not logged in.

ps: make password field a ... password field please *************************** :)

edit2: when a team does not participate in a certain "competition" it is listed at position #1 apparantly http://madmark.madoka.be:8080/listTeams.do

check the F@H list :)

jmke 29th June 2004 23:09

edit3: anyone can join any team and edit/remove the bots and comments ?

ps2: do love the idea and the general execution, I would have never been able to pull this project off, repsect! ;)

RichBa5tard 29th June 2004 23:10

Thanks for spotting that one, overlooked the page while checking for bugs. It will be fixed in a minute. : )

Fixed :nana:

>edit2: when a team does not participate in a >certain "competition" it is listed at position #1 >apparantly
fixed!

>anyone can join any team and edit/remove >the bots and comments ?
no
If you're not logged in, you can't edit teams/bots.
If you're a default user, you can't edit teams/bots either.
If you're a poweruser (1 per team), you can edit _your own_ team/bots.
If you're a superuser, you can edit all teams/bots.

-edit-
bumped your securitylevel to poweruser.

It's not n00b friendly yet, but it's improving nicely. : )

RichBa5tard 1st July 2004 23:54

I think I'm going to change the update policy.

Currently, the engine fetches every 10 minutes the most outdated bot and instructs it to update, which results in a 4h refresh rate interval.

However, some threads aren't updated for days or even weeks at a time. Maybe it would be a better idea to set the updateinterval to 2,3 days, but at the same time encourage the moderators (power users) to manually update update the thread when they deem it necessary.

jmke 1st July 2004 23:58

n/o , what's the use of a bot if you have to update manually? ;)

RichBa5tard 2nd July 2004 00:29

update manually = click on a link

Dunno whether I'm going to do this, or just give the bots who are barely being used a lower priority.

By the way, I added the 24h increase top 20 ranking you requested. :)

You know, my sexual preference can be altered by hardware donations. :D

It's not part of the v1.2rc1 running on the main server yet (so it will be overwritten shortly), but it i'll make sure it will be included before I leave on holiday monday.

RichBa5tard 2nd July 2004 23:57

mbot engine has been upgraded to v1.2 rc2.

fixes: see above
features:
- f@h 24h ranking
- ability to comment on newsposts
