Either way new doesn't mean better in my ~~humble~~ biased opinion. I'm gonna check out the color schemes you mentioned to see what's what.
Web 2.0 is overrated :P

the admin backend is more web 2.0

the main site has been tweaked:
- more news on is shown on the frontpage and unnecessary white space has been removed, so you can see more content on the same page height
- more news... shortcut added at the bottom
- clearer labels for the categories added.

Can anybody with IE7/8/9 test out the site?
