Icon17 XFX Releases the First Overclocked GeForceR 8800-series XXX Chipsets

Ontario, California, December 15, 2006 — Be warned: XFX has released the first-ever overclocked versions of the powerful new GeForce® 8800-series video cards into the general population, in very limited release. Based on the long-running success of XFX’s ultra-high-performance XXX series cards, hard-core gaming enthusiasts who crave the finest in performance products will need to move fast to get one of these in-demand video cards.

“We are extremely excited to be the first to release these overclocked sets,” said Marnie Sutton, Senior Vice President XFX. “We believe we are the industry leader in overclocking, and it is what XFX is known for. We are always motivated to create something that gamers will really respond to because that is who we strive to please.”

The goods at stake: A choice of the top-of-the-line 8800 GTX XXX Edition, overclocked from the standard 575Mhz Core/1.8Mhz Memory Clock speed to a red-lined 630 Mhz Core/2.0 Ghz Memory clock and a super-high-performance 8800 GTS XXX Edition dialed up from a standard 500 Mhz Core/1.6 Memory clock speed to 550 Mhz Core/1.8 Ghz Memory clock speed.

Both blistering fast chips, which feature custom bios to, further, optimize gaming performance, are now available from Spain; www.coolmod.es, France; www.materiel.net, Germany; www.alternate.de, Scandinavia; www.komplett.com, UK; www.scan.co.uk

World renowned for its overclocked chipsets, this new batch of beauties continues in the XFX tradition of industry-leading products. That’s because XFX is one of the few true manufacturers that takes full control of its product from the moment that it receives its chips.

Working within its own factory setting, XFX has two research and development teams that are continually working on new procedures that will maximize card performance, enhance card stability, improve life expectancy and offer serious endurance. XFX also has a vigorous test protocol in place, with each card tested based on 12 to 15 points on both Intel- and AMD-based machines. And, before any card leaves the factory, it is tested with 3Dmark06.

Based on the revolutionary new GeForce 8 graphics architecture, the GeForce 8800 series of video cards are the industry’s first DirectX® 10 compatible GPUs and are the reference GPUs for the DirectX® 10 development and certification.

Rocking the gaming world with a fully unified shader core that dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations and unified stream processors that efficiently process geometry shader programs, while reducing dependence on the CPU for geometry processing, the GeForce® 8800 GTX and GeForce® GTS feature NVIDIA® GigaThread™ technology that supports thousands of independent simultaneous threads for maximum GPU utilization. Shader Model(SM) 4.0 enables more complex operations on the GPU and reduces the load and CPU cycles.

Stream Out enables programmers to add more detail without having to re-render the entire pipeline and Geometry Shaders permit geometry creation and tessellation for smooth curved surfaces and more lifelike character animation, including more realistic facial expressions and hair. Occupying the space of two slots, each of these GPUs use high-speed GDDR3 memory and are HDCP capable.

Exceptional overclocking skill is just one part of the XFX world-domination story. XFX continues to share its products and stories with gamers around the world, most recently debuting XFX sites in Brazil, southern Europe and Russia.
