US Government Drops Purchase of Lenovo PCs

DailyTech previously reported that the US government was under some fire from within for considering to purchase computers manufactured by Chinese-owned Lenovo. Today, it appears that the US government has decided to drop its plan to spend roughly $1.3M USD on Lenovo PCs sold via CDW Government. The deal was one of Lenovo's larger deals and although it had complied with inquiries and talks, increasing outcry from within the US government ended up nixing the deal.

It tells how much or how little the US government knows about PC market. Dell, HP or Lenovo, the guts are made in China with a few exceptions to where the CPUs come from.

My first Toshiba 486 was made in Japan; the price tag was $4,800 in 1993.

Shenzhen, China 2006 = Chicago, U.S.A in 1960, in terms of industry; manufacturing.
