Thousands of overheating HP notebook batteries recalled

HEWLETT-PACKARD is recalling 15,700 notebook batteries after reports of overheating and burnings worldwide for a burn and fire hazard, it said today.
The worldwide recall applies to rechargeable lithium ion batteries manufactured in China in January 2005. The batteries appear in a range of HP and Compaq notebooks, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
