Default Seagate to Speed Up Performance of Tiny Hard Drives

Seagate Technology, a maker of hard disk drives, announced on Tuesday its Cybercapture technology that maximizes performance of tiny hard disk drives, such as those in 1” form-factor, used in consumer applications like digital cameras and digital music players.

According to Seagate, by “moving control of the file system from the consumer electronics device onto the hard disc drive itself”, Cybercapture technology will allow an “even higher recording rate of still pictures in multi-shot mode” as well as higher quality recording of moving pictures, on a drive running in AV mode.

Seagate is looking ahead to additional future benefits with this technology. Additionally, Seagate teamed its engineering expertise with Sony to help enable an entirely new way to harness the power of miniature hard drives.

Hardware supporting Cybercapture technology is being developed for future launch, and Seagate may bring Cybercapture technology to market in the future with new Seagate branded products.
