| Mac Pro gets half-assed 'update' Marco Arment: "After two years, the Mac Pro was 'updated' today, sort of: now we can choose slightly faster two-year-old CPUs at the top end, and the other two-year-old CPU options are cheaper now. That's about it. No Xeon E5 CPUs, no USB 3, no Thunderbolt. They're even shipping the same two-year-old graphics cards. Same motherboard, slightly different CPU options from 2010. That's it. The message is clear: Apple doesn't give a **** about the Mac Pro." Paint, red, scout, girl. http://osnews.com/story/26062/Mac_Pr...-assed_update_ |

| I think they should have waited 15min more minutes before writing that post. the old line-up got updates and a new 15" is launched http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...ly/macbook_pro - Core i7 Quad Core - 16Gb RAM - 768Gb SSD - NVIDIA Optimus (Intel HD4000 + Geforce 650GT) - 15" screen with resolution of 2880 by 1800 pixels all in such a small package... yah. No new gear there only the price disappoints; max configured laptop $3700 (fastest CPU, 768Gb SSD, 16gb ram). ouch!

Regarding the new Macbook Pro line, I think that the price is a little high, considering that we get custom SSDs preinstalled which are not very easy to upgrade because of the proprietary design and soldered RAM, which is impossible to upgrade. I would have been excellent to see the regular Macbook line with Retina Display and not a mix-up between the Air and the Pro. It is great to have available more storage space in your laptop, without caring about external storage, which practically eliminates a little from the mobility factor, while enjoying the Retina Display, but it seems now it's not the case. There were rumors that the Retina Display costs $100 more than the regular one, so many people would have preferred the regular Pro (+$100) instead of paying $2199. | ah yes, Mac Pro. desktop computers have no future for Apple. even in Windows world, laptops get chosen over desktops, even when they cost twice as much to get same speed. enthusiasts, gamers and those who like to keep cost down go down the desktop route edit: LAN party house: http://kentonsprojects.blogspot.be/2...zed-house.html doesn't use desktops "per sé" but uses desktop-like hardware
