Sources close to Reuters report that Apple is in negotiations with Japan Displays, Inc. to build a new plant in Japan to increase production of Apple's smartphone screens. That part of the story is fairly commonplace, but what is unusual about the deal is the supplier wants the buyer to foot the bill for the $1.7 Billion factory. Japan Display wants Apple to shoulder much of the expected 200 billion yen ($1.7 billion) investment in the plant, which aims to be in operation next year, the source said on condition of anonymity as the talks remain confidential.
