Default Intel picks up gaming physics engine for forthcoming GPU product

In late 2008 or early 2009, when Intel launches its forthcoming GPU product (codenamed Larrabee) on its new 45nm process, the company will almost certainly face one major hurdle: DirectX 10. Larrabee is a different sort of beast than the traditional GPU, and I've described before how its many-core x86 design is particularly suited for physics and real-time ray tracing. I've also talked about how Intel has crammed some specialized hardware onto the chip in order to make it better at the kind of raster graphics that traditional GPUs do.
