Default Intel Gulftown 32nm six core is only Extreme Edition

Q2 2010 launch of a next generation CPU sounds like at least two quarters delay in Intel's usual refresh cycle. New CPU traditionally replaces the old one in Q4 while the volume production usually starts in Q1 next year.

With 32nm high, end Intel is at least one quarter delayed as in Q1 2010 you can expect Clarkdale 32nm dual core and for the real, high end CPUs we are talking about at least two quarter delay. The new Gulftown six core CPU will only come as Extreme edition.

Core i7, Nehalem based 45nm Quad core will keep the rest of the high end / performance market for Intel but we are pretty sure that Intel should introduce some 32nm quad core CPU after Q2 2010 to replace soon to launch quad core Lynnfield 45nm CPU.
