Default Geeksphone Announces New Peak+ for End Users

Madrid, July 25, 2013. - The Spanish Company Geeksphone, dedicated to the design and manufacturing of next generation smartphones, and which launched the Developer Preview devices Keon and Peak, announces the opening of a presale reservation list, starts today July 25th, for all users interested in purchasing the new improved version of the highly demanded Peak: Peak+

All users acquiring the new device on the pre-sale list at the Geeksphone Store, shop.geeksphone.com/es, will obtain the new terminal at a one-time, limited promotional price of 149 euros (excluding VAT). Any other interested users may purchase the device from the official Geeksphone Store, at a standard price, starting on September 15th.

The pre-sale list has been established with the intention of satisfying the growing demand of those who wish to be the first ones to acquire the new Peak+, and in order to provide a fair, fast and efficient service to the requests received from all over the world. According to the Company, 93% of sales have taken place outside Spain, particularly in Germany, France and Japan as well as in several other Asian and Latin American countries which are also showing great interest.

Geeksphone has improved, in this new handset, the technical characteristics of the Peak. Such improvements and highlights include the latest version of the OS based on mozilla technology preinstalled (1.1), as well as 1GB of RAM memory. Battery management has been improved, as well as graphical performance. In addition, external materials and inner construction have been enhanced, resulting in a more polished finish and pleasant touch, as demanded by our users.

Peak + is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm 8225 chipset running at 1.2 GHz, 4.3” qHD IPS multitouch screen, 8-megapixel rear camera with flash, 2 megapixel front camera, and tri-band UMTS / HSPA and a long-lasting 1800 mAh battery.

Besides 4GB of internal storage and up to 32 GB expandable by MicroSD, the Peak + will come with 25GB of cloud storage, that can be synchronized with other devices through the web. The 25GB cloud storage service has been incorporated in cooperation with Fiabee, a leading company offering a cross-platform sync/share technology (www.fiabee.com). The new Geeksphone terminal represents the commitment of Geeksphone towards a future in mobility based on the Open Web, break down barriers generated by other mobile ecosystems, and promote a context in which the voice and freedom are returned to the end user.

Geeksphone also wishes to offer a more advanced and improved terminal to those developers who, during the past months, were unable to acquire a terminal at the Geeksphone online store, since the release of the Developer Preview devices. Geeksphone will continue to support its Keon and Peak devices, releasing OTA updates with the latest versions of the OS, and has made an effort to make Peak and Peak+ 100% software-compatible.
